CEPEJ supports the setting up of a regular and sustainable assessment of the justice system in Kosovo*

In 2021, for the second consecutive year,  the Kosovo Ministry of Justice will be leading, with CEPEJ support, the assessment of the justice system continuing to move towards the objective of setting up a regular and sustainable assessment of the functioning of the justice system in Kosovo.

In order to support this process, a meeting with representatives of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC) and of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) was organized on 24 February 2020 to further improve the process of data collection.

Participants discussed the calculation of the budget for legal aid, the number of judges and non-judge staff and other questions that need to be addressed in accordance with the CEPEJ methodology. Regular support will be provided throughout this process.

This activity was organised by the KoSEJ II Action “Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Kosovo”, which is part of the joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility of the Western Balkans and Turkey II", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
