The Council of Europe Committee of Experts on the Rights and the Best Interests of the Child in Parental Separation and in Care Proceedings (CJ/ENF-ISE) held its 8th meeting from 4 to 6 October 2023. The experts finalised the draft recommendation on the protection of the rights and the best interests of the child in parental separation proceedings and its draft explanatory memorandum, taking due account of the written comments received from member states and other key stakeholders.
The draft legal instrument will be examined, for approval, by the European Committee on Legal Cooperation (CDCJ) and the Steering Committee for the Rights of the Child (CDENF) during a joint session taking place during their plenary meetings on 16 November 2023, before a later adoption by the Committee of Ministers.
The CJ/ENF-ISE also held an initial discussion on the preliminary draft recommendation on the protection of the rights and best interests of the child in care proceedings.
