The Bureau of the European Committee on Legal Co-operation (CDCJ) held on 12-13 March 2026 its 124th meeting to prepare the 106th plenary meeting of the CDCJ (2-4 June 2026).
The Bureau examined possible future activities for the CDCJ following up on the outcome of the last plenary meeting (18-20 November 2025) and with a view to laying the groundwork for the discussions that will take place at the upcoming plenary meeting. This work will serve to identify concrete proposals for its future terms of reference (2028-2031) at its 107th plenary meeting (17-19 November 2026) to be submitted to the Committee of Ministers.
It also examined a draft report on the career and training of judges which is to be adopted at the next plenary meeting as a follow-up to the Council of Europe Plan of Action on Strengthening Judicial Independence and Impartiality (Sofia Action Plan). It examined a draft revised recommendation on the nationality of children and a draft recommendation on the rights of donor-conceived persons to know their origins.
