2nd International Conference on Universities and Cultural Routes 2026

The 2nd International Conference on Universities and Cultural Routes will take place on 12-13 November 2026, in Lugano, (Switzerland), organised by the European Institute of the Cultural Routes (EICR - Technical agency of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme) and the UNESCO Chair in ICT to develop and promote sustainable tourism in World Heritage Sites of USI – Università della Svizzera italiana (member of the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies).
This event takes place in the framework of the activities organised by the EICR in cooperation with the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies. Composed of more than 35 universities and academic institutions across Europe, the network aims to promote research on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe related issues, foster academic activities in the field of Cultural Routes and offer scientific advice where required.
The 2nd International Conference aims to:
- highlight and discuss research and academic activities related to cultural routes;
- strengthen the University Network for Cultural Routes Studies;
- foster collaboration between academics and practitioners, shaping future research agendas;
- disseminate scientific knowledge about the cultural routes and their role in promoting an European identity.
Two types of contributions are welcome for presentation at the Conference:
- Ongoing research and already published papers
- Original Research
