Municipalities and associations across the 46 member states of the Council of Europe can now apply to become Partner for the 2024 edition of the European Local Democracy Week (ELDW).

Each year, the ELDW invites municipalities and associations to apply for the status of “Partner of the European Local Democracy Week”. This certificate is awarded to the local and regional actors who have actively participated in the ELDW during the year by organising events, activities or tools aimed at involving their citizens in the life and the decision-making of their community.

Municipalities and associations interested in participating are expected to submit their applications by filling in the form and sending back at [email protected] by 15 December at the latest.

Municipalities, regions and associations that have not yet joined the ELDW can still register on its website and report on their 2024 activities to apply for the Partner Status. Those who have participated in previous editions of the ELDW can reapply by logging into their personal account and updating their activity reports.

Participants of the 2024 edition will be invited to present their activities of the year in relation with the ELDW during an assessment meeting which will take place at the end of February 2025 in Strasbourg. The “Partner of the ELDW” certificates will be presented at the end of this meeting to the participants who have fulfilled the criteria.

The ELDW is an initiative co-ordinated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. The general aim is to promote and foster democratic participation at the local level through public initiatives which involve citizens and local actors.
