The 11th World Forum for Democracy, “Democracy = Peace?” will take place from 6-8 November 2023 in Strasbourg. Participants will debate how democracy and democratic institutions and practices can help us counter the causes of war in our societies to deliver peace at a time when violence rages, inequalities are widening, politics is polarising, and governments are struggling to cope with unforeseen events including climate change, pandemics and the rise of new technologies.
The World Forum for Democracy launches a call for initiatives and invites NGOs, think tanks, educational and civil society organisations from all over the world to present innovative proposals aimed at enhancing democracy and contributing to sustainable peace. Presentations of initiatives should be sent to [email protected] before 15 June 2023.
Each year, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities contributes to the World Forum for Democracy and participates in plenary sessions, Forum Talks and Forum Labs, with a focus on local and regional democracy.
