On 2 and 3 May, a delegation of the Department for Execution of the European Court’s judgments was in Ankara to discuss issues concerning cases against Turkey under the Committee of Ministers’ supervision, including freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and effective investigations into unlawful killings and injuries.

The delegation also took part in the closing events for the Council of Europe Project on “Improving the Effectiveness of Investigation of Allegations of Ill-treatment and Combating Impunity” by making an intervention on the need to carry out effective investigations into allegations of domestic violence, with reference to the European Court’s judgments, the Istanbul Convention, and GREVIO’s (“Group of Experts on Action Against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”) findings in its evaluation report on Turkey.
