| This ad hoc Conference of Directors of Prison Administration (CDAP) and Probation Service was held in Rome from 25 to 27 November 2004, some ten years after the ad hoc Conference of Directors of Prison Administration which was held in Rome from 1 to 3 December 1994. The Conference was organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the Italian Ministry of Justice. Its three main topics were: the updating of the European Prison Rules; alternative sanctions and measures; long-term sentences. For the first time in its history, the Conference brought together directors both of prison administration and of probation services. | |
