Ms Battaini-Dragoni was elected to the post of Deputy Secretary General in June 2012. In 2011, the Secretary  General appointed her Director General of Programmes, responsible for overseeing the bi-annual programme of  intergovernmental activities and for coordinating all monitoring, standard-setting and cooperation activities on  human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Since 2005 she has coordinated the Council of Europe’s projects on intercultural dialogue, preparing the “White Paper on Intercultural Dialogue”, the first document of its kind to be  adopted at international level. Ms Battaini-Dragoni has published widely on a variety of social and educational policy topics in both Anglophone and Francophone academic journals and international publications.

Marko chairs the Advisory Council on Youth, coordinating the work of 30 youth representatives in the field of youth policy, youth and human rights, participation, peace building and global cooperation. His earlier work for the Advisory Council was focused on the education issues as well as cooperation between the Council of Europe and the Russian Federation.  Marko joined the Advisory Council as former president of European Students' Forum / AEGEE-Europe, representing voice of students towards the main European and international institutions. His experience is based on development of policies and lobbying for student rights, particularly in the field of active citizenship, youth participation, human rights and education with a focus on non-formal education.

Georges Haddad was elected President of the University Paris-1 Panthéon-Sorbonne on May 17, 2016. Before, he was director of the research unit at Unesco. A graduate of the Ecole Normale Superieure, Georges Haddad holds a Masters in Mathematics from the University Paris 7 and a postgraduate degree in mathematics from the University Paris 6. He also obtained a state doctorate in mathematics in 1983.

Yaacov Hecht founded the Democratic School in Hadera, Israel, the first school in the world to call itself democratic. This school operates as microcosms of the democratic state. In 1993, he convened the first IDEC – International Democratic Education Conference that runs since then all over the world for 24 years now, each year in a different continent. Shortly thereafter, Hecht founded the Institute for Democratic Education in Israel (IDE), and within it, the academic faculty for Democratic Education teachers. In 2010, Hecht founded "Education Cities-the Art of Collaborations" an organization that sees the city as one big school. Yaacov Hecht has served as an advisor to Israeli Ministers of Education in the past and at the present. That is as an expert for creating connections and interfaces between the state and alternative education.
