Following a successful completion of the pilot course of the Council of Europe Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) on the International Cooperation in Criminal Matters (ICCM) for prosecutorial trainees in the first half of 2018, another round of the HELP ICCM course started on 12 October 2018. This second round of the course is intended for deputy prosecutors and prosecutorial assistants from basic prosecutor's offices under the jurisdiction of the Appellate Public Prosecutor's Offices in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
The launch of the second round of the HELP course on International Cooperation in Criminal Matters (ICCM) is organised jointly with the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia.
The main aim of the launching event was to introduce participants to the HELP Programme and the tutored online course that they will attend in the upcoming 3 months in the HELP e-learning platform. Through the course, deputy prosecutors and prosecutorial assistants will advance their knowledge on fundamental principles of international judicial cooperation and a range of legal frameworks and instruments with focus on mutual legal assistance and transfer of sentenced persons.
Nenad Vujic, director of Judicial Academy, welcomed participants and underlined the importance of the innovative educational tool such as HELP e-learning platform. HELP Programme Manager for the Western Balkans, Valentina Boz, guided participants through the structure of the course by introducing them to the HELP methodology and platform. HELP national tutors, Gordana Janićijević (Deputy Republic Prosecutor and Head of International Cooperation Department) and Milena Manojlović Nedeljković (advisor) outlined the course’s structure, discussed participants’ expectations and encouraged them to benefit from the program by actively participating in the forum discussions and by providing timely feedback to both tutors and organisers.
The course was developed under the Action "Strengthening Effective Remedies and Mutual Legal Assistance", which is being implemented in Serbia in the framework of the European Union and the Council of Europe Programme entitled “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”.
