Back A thousand copies of Poster on prohibition of torture and other forms of ill-treatment prepared for and disseminated among the military conscripts and servicepersons in Armenia

Raising the awareness on the human rights and prohibition of torture among military conscripts and military personnel is envisaged by the National Human Rights Protection Strategy in Armenia for 2020-2022. Implementation of this action is supported by the Council of Europe within the frame of the Organisation’s cooperation activities in the area of the promotion of human rights in armed forces in Armenia.

The current Poster on the prohibition of torture as well as other forms of ill-treatment is produced in close cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of Armenia. It includes essential information about the definition of torture and ill-treatment, as well as methods to identify other inhuman behaviour or degrading treatments. The Poster provides the information about the duties of the state to prevent investigate effectively ill-treatment against personnel of the armed forces. The Poster is published in 1,000 copies and is being disseminated among conscripts and servicepersons of the armed forces of Armenia.

Previously, the Project has already produced the first Poster for the same target audience, which was dedicated to the right to life.

The activity is held under the Project “Human Rights and Women in the Armed Forces in Armenia – Phase II’’ is implemented by the Council of Europe within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2019-2022. Action Plan level funding is provided by Germany, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Sweden.
