MONEYVAL launches the evaluation process of Gibraltar

MONEYVAL has officially launched its 6th round of mutual evaluation of the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar. In this context, a high-level exchange was held with the participation of Honourable Nigel Feetham, Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry of Gibraltar, and Mr Alfred Zammit, Deputy Chair of MONEYVAL. Their interventions stressed the importance of the assessment process and the commitment of the national authorities to its success.

The high-level exchange was followed by training for Gibraltar’s authorities and the private sector. The training aimed at familiarising all national stakeholders involved in the evaluation with the underlying standards and methodology of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the evaluation approach of MONEYVAL.

Organised in Gibraltar, the training was attended by about 130 participants, including representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Trade and Industry, the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, the Economic Crime Unit of the Royal Police, the Gaming Commission, the Office of Fair Trading, the Legal Services Regulatory Authority, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the investigative branch of the Customs, and representatives of the private sector.
