The ETINED Bureau convened for its meeting on 21 April 2026 in Vienna, hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research.
The meeting brought together experts and officials to discuss key developments in ethics, transparency, and integrity in education, with a special focus on Open School Data (OSD) policies and education fraud prevention mechanisms.
Highlights included exchanges with representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Austrian Working Group on Education Fraud, whose coordinated national approach was acknowledged as an inspiring example for other countries. Updates were also provided on the new Centre for Preventing and Countering Education Fraud.
Discussions included collaborative input from UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO), specifically on the development of OSD policy guidelines. The Bureau also reviewed preparation for the 10th ETINED Plenary Meeting scheduled for 14 October 2026, as well as the programme for the upcoming ETINED Forum on Transparency in Governance of Higher Education Institutions taking place on 15–16 October 2026 in Strasbourg.
The meeting reinforced the importance of strengthening transparency, integrity, and cooperation across education systems in Europe.
