This publication intends to provide a non-exhaustive overview of articles from the media and other available public sources. It does not reflect the views of the Ad hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAHAI) and of the Council of Europe
"Artificial intelligence (AI) is being used as a tool to support the fight against the viral pandemic that has affected the entire world since the beginning of 2020. The press and the scientific community are echoing the high hopes that data science and AI can be used to confront the coronavirus and "fill in the blanks" still left by science."
The Council of Europe and the University of Strasbourg organised the 5th edition of the "AI Breakfast" in the form of a webinar on 16 April 2020. Three experts were brought together on the theme of tracking applications on mobile phones in the fight against COVID-19. Michael Veale, Lecturer at University College London, Dino Pedreschi, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Pisa and Adrien Basdevant, a data protection lawyer, discussed the myths and realities of these applications.
