On 16-18 October, the 15th European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH) Annual Conference “Industrial Heritage Tourism – It’s All in the Mix” took place at the German Technical Museum in Berlin, Germany.
On Thursday 17, Stefano DOMINIONI, Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe (EPA) and Director of European Institute of Cultural Routes presented the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe Programme and delivered the “Cultural Route of the Council of Europe” certification to the European Route of Industrial Heritage represented by Professor Meinrad Maria GREWENIG, President, and Christiane BAUM, Secretary General of ERIH.

The Annual Conference focused on examples of innovative and best practices on how the promotion of industrial heritage can be combined with other tourism sectors. Thus, different interventions and workshops were the occasion to discuss on industrial heritage in the view of a long-term attraction of visitors and stimulation of repeated visits. The event was attended by nearly 90 participants from 19 different countries.

The European Route of Industrial Heritage, Cultural Route of the Council of Europe certified in 2019, invites visitors to explore the milestones of European industrial history in the context of a Europe-wide tourist network: as places of a common European memory, they bear witness to scientific discoveries, technological innovation and workers' life histories.
