A 15-member delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, led by Gobnait Ni Mhuimneacain (Ireland, ILDG), will carry out a mission from 16 to 20 October 2025 to observe local elections taking place on 19 October in North Macedonia. On election day, seven Congress teams will be deployed randomly throughout the country to observe electoral procedures at polling stations.
The delegation will meet with members of the delegation of North Macedonia to the Congress, representatives of the international community and the President of the State Election Commission. Joint briefings are also scheduled with the OSCE/ODIHR Core Team.
A joint press conference with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and a delegation of the European Parliament, presenting the preliminary findings of the mission, will be held on Monday 20 October at 15h00 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (ASNOM 17 Blvd., Skopje, 1000) in room “Platinum 1”.
