The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR) are organising a joint event dedicated to the protection and advancement of fundamental human rights in Europe, on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m., in René Cassin Room, Human Rights Building, Strasbourg.
The event will bring together the President of the European Court of Human Rights, Mattias Guyomar and the President of the European Committee of Social Rights, Aoife Nolan, as well as judges from the ECHR and ECSR members. It will underline the importance of dialogue and cooperation in strengthening the protection of civil and political rights and social rights across Europe.
The programme will focus on two key areas of contemporary human rights protection: the rights of persons with disabilities and gender equality.
Through two panel discussions, participants will explore the complementary roles of the European Convention on Human Rights and the European Social Charter, exchange views and discuss current legal developments and challenges.
The event is open to the public subject to availability. Prior registration is required via [email protected] by 4 September 2026 at 17.00 CET.
