Together with the Department of Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Council of Europe Office in Georgia held a working meeting with the managers of the police units to discuss the current issues of combating discrimination, hate crimes and to effectively implement investigation proceedings in this direction. The meeting participants also discussed the results of the activities implemented in recent years to fight against discrimination.
The Council of Europe expert shared the international and local practice and discussed the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) caselaw, good practices and challenges of investigating hate crime cases with the representatives of the Ministry.
This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Promoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia.” The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
