With the support of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor’s Office and the High Council of Justice held a joint working meeting on the hate crimes. The meeting participants discussed the standard of evidence for identification of the motive of hate crimes, the specifics of the process at court and the case law. They highlighted the importance of a joint approach to hate crimes and the production of hate crime statistical data in accordance with international standards. The obligations derived from the memorandum signed in 2020, according to which the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor's Office and the Supreme Court agreed to produce data on hate crimes using a unified methodology, were also discussed.

This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Promoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia.” The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
