On 1-2 July 2025, a training session on Execution of Judgments and Reopening of Cases Following the Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights was held for prosecutors and investigators of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia.
The training covered “reopening of cases” after a judgement by the European Court, as a way for the State to address past violations of fundamental human rights.
The session aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the State’s obligations to execute the Court’s judgments fully and to ensure that there are domestic legal tools to address violations in line with the European Convention on Human Rights.
This training was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Reinforcing National Execution of the European Court's judgments by Georgia”, implemented within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
