The Council of Europe Office in Georgia successfully conducted another set of awareness-raising workshops on protecting children from sexual violence, including online abuse, in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kakheti regions. Over 100 schoolchildren above 14 years old and their parents/caregivers participated in interactive, full-day sessions.
The workshops focused on recognising warning signs of sexual abuse, online safety, self-protection strategies, and the essential role of parents in prevention and support. Participants engaged in open discussions and scenario-based activities, leading to increased awareness and a stronger understanding of protective measures. The initiative empowered both children and parents/caregivers with knowledge of their rights and available support services, encouraging confidence in seeking help when needed.
These workshops are part of the Council of Europe’s ongoing efforts under the “Combating Violence Against Children in Georgia” project that is implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia (2024-2027).
