Positive Parenting Programme expands nationwide as direct impact of Council of Europe project

The Positive Parenting Programme (PPP) is expanding across Georgia, providing practical, evidence-based tools to professionals who work with the families. The PPP is for all parents and future parents who face or might face challenges in communication with their children and are unsure how to address them. The programme offers clear, structured guidance to help Georgian parents and future parents to learn about child development stages and forms of attachment, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, managing conflicts, build trust and prevent problems before they escalate.

Tbilisi, 10–12 February 2026 — The final workshop on the Upscaling and Further Implementation of the PPP organised by the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe involved psychologists and social workers of State Care Agency, Special Penitentiary Service, National Agency for Crime Prevention and Probation as well as Juvenile Referral Centre. Facilitator’s Guidebook was introduced and specialists have been equipped to train new facilitators across the country.

PPP has been already implemented in two Georgian penitentiary institutions, with a third launching up, its rollout demonstrates the project’s tangible, systemic and directly measurable impact.

One of the authors and participant of the workshop noted: “This meeting was extremely important for better planning the process of training new facilitators. We received detailed guidance on the Facilitator’s Guidebook, practiced module simulations, identified areas requiring further attention and developed concrete recommendations to strengthen other facilitators’ skills. We also shared the pilot results and discussed future plans for further implementation.”

The workshop was organised in the framework of the Project “Strengthening the Role of Key Actors in Drug Prevention” implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2024-2027.
