CIRCOM Regional is a Professional Association of Regional Public Service Media in Europe. It currently represents regional public service television stations from 30 European countries.

The acronym “CIRCOM” represents a declaration of intent, worded in French and abbreviated like this: “Cooperative Internationale de Recherche et d’Action en matière de Communication (International Cooperative for Research and Action on the Field of Communication). That long description was abbreviated for practical reasons to six capital letters: CIRCOM.

Every year, the Prix CIRCOM Regional honours the best regional productions. These are the most important international awards for regional programmes and were first presented in 1990. Since 2012 the Council of Europe has sponsored the prize for investigative journalism, when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Council of Europe and CIRCOM.

The awards are presented at the CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference, hosted every year by a national network in a regional centre.
