Strengthening the human rights protection in the context of migration in Türkiye

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the human rights protection of persons in the context of migration in Türkiye in line with European and international standards.
Specific objectives:
- To enhance detention conditions and procedural safeguards in the context of migration in line with European and international standards.
- To improve procedures and inter-agency mechanisms for the protection of persons in a vulnerable situation, especially unaccompanied and separated children.
Main partners and beneficiaries: Union of Turkish Bar Associations (UTBA), Presidency of Migration Management (PMM), Ministry of Family and Social Services, Ombudsperson's Office, Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye (TİHEK), Local Bar Associations, Law Enforcement Authorities, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
- Standards on lawfulness of detention and procedural safeguards are better applied in line with European and international standards.
- Key institutions are better coordinated to ensure the protection of migrants in a vulnerable situation, especially unaccompanied and separated children.
- Capacity building activities for a wide range of professionals (e.g., authorities, border guards and law enforcement officers, lawyers, social workers)
- Trainings/peer-to-peer sessions for varied professionals (lawyers and other legal professionals, relevant authorities, social workers, etc.)
- Needs assessment / Studies / Evaluation Reports / Publications
- Translation of relevant Council of Europe documents
- Awareness-raising activities and information materials
- Grants to Civil Society Organisations
