Roundtable dedicated to electronic signature in justice was organised in Valletta under the EU-CoE Joint Project “Attorney General and State Advocate in Malta - Implementation of action plan of offices re-organisation”. It brought together representatives of the Maltese justice sector community from the offices of the Attorney General and the State Advocate, judges, legal professionals, IT experts and representatives of England, France and Sweden.

Participants explored how electronic signatures are used in the justice sector in some foreign jurisdictions, what are the current and past challenges linked to the introduction of the electronic signatures. Special attention was paid to the discussions on the technical and legal obstacles in Malta for the introduction of electronic signatures and possible solutions. These exchanges helped to have a clear understanding of the legal and technical changes necessary for the introduction of eSignature in Maltese justice area.
