Türkiye and the Council of Europe – bringing human rights from the conference table to your kitchen table

The Council of Europe works for you. We want to give visibility to the role, standards and work of the Council of Europe in its member states, to show how Council of Europe membership has helped achieve particular results or changes. Our aim, through a variety of events and actions, is to highlight ways in which the Council of Europe’s action has helped improve the life of individuals and contributed to improving people’s enjoyment of fundamental rights.

Whether it is the impact of the European Convention on Human Rights at national level, or the Council of Europe's work in many fields, such as working to abolish the death penalty or to ensure freedom of expression and freedom of the media, or to adress online and technology-facilitated violence against women through the Istanbul Convention and Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, the Council of Europe has achieved a lot since 1949. View achievements »

• The Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara celebrated its Visibility Week, bringing together more than 700 partners from public institutions, civil society, academia, foreign missions and international organisations across Türkiye.
• “Council of Europe Visibility Week is more than a series of events; it is an opportunity to reflect on the impact of the Council of Europe’s joint work in Türkiye, and to unite stakeholders around the shared values of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. It enables us to present the achievements of our projects and to reinforce partnerships with national institutions and civil society. Above all, it highlights the importance of sharing our results widely, ensuring that the benefits of our cooperation are widely recognised and contribute to lasting, positive change,” said the Head of the Council of Europe Programme Office in Ankara, William Massolin.

• International Conference on the occassion of 12th Anniversary of the Individual Application System in Türkiye, under EU-CoE Joint Project  ‘Supporting the Implementation of Turkish Constitutional Court Judgments in the Field of Fundamental Rights’, Ankara. Attendance of the President of the Constitutional Court and high level representation from EUD and other judiciary bodies is expected.
