Le Conseil de l'Europe travaille pour vous. Nous souhaitons conférer davantage de visibilité au rôle, aux normes et aux activités du Conseil de l'Europe dans ses États membres afin de montrer comment l’adhésion au Conseil de l’Europe a contribué à réaliser des objectifs ou des changements particuliers. Notre but est de souligner, grâce à un éventail d’événements et d’initiatives, comment l’action du Conseil de l'Europe a contribué à améliorer la vie des personnes et leur jouissance des droits fondamentaux.

Qu’il s’agisse de l’impact de la Convention européenne des droits de l'homme au plan national ou des activités du Conseil de l'Europe dans de nombreux domaines, comme l’abolition de la peine de mort, la garantie de la liberté d'expression et de la liberté des médias, ou la lutte contre la violence en ligne et la violence contre les femmes favorisée par la technologie par le biais de la Convention d’Istanbul et de la Convention de Budapest sur la Cybercriminalité, le Conseil de l'Europe a de nombreuses réussites à son actif depuis 1949. - Some 150 participants from politics, academia, and civil society, along with approximately 40 students gathered in the German Bundestag to mark the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights. The conference, entitled “75 Jahre Europäische Menschenrechtskonvention: ein europäischer Triumph in Gefahr,“ was organised by the German delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (Parlamentarische Versammlung – PVER).

- The European Movement Germany (Europäische Bewegung Deutschland) organised an event in the German Parliament in the framework of the 75th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights focusing on the discussions in several Council of Europe member states about reassessing individual protection standards, particularly in migration and internal security. The European Movement Germany (EBD) warns against a political shift in interpreting the European Convention on Human Rights. This debate touches on fundamental questions regarding the authority of the European Court of Human Rights and the reliability of Europe’s human rights protection system.

- As part of the European Movement Germany (EBD) Council of Europe project, a briefing was organised in Berlin at the Europäisches Haus, focusing on the European future of the Republic of Moldova and the role of the Council of Europe in the EU enlargement process. The event addressed the current status of Moldova’s EU accession process against the backdrop of the 2025 parliamentary elections and the work of the new government. The roadmap ahead and key reforms to implement the Copenhagen Criteria, particularly in the areas of the rule of law, the judiciary, the fight against corruption, and public administration were also discussed. In addition, the interfaces between the Council of Europe and EU enlargement policy were examined in light of the Action Plan 2025–2028 and the priorities of the Moldovan Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers.

- On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Germany’s membership in the Council of Europe, a session was held in the German Parliament (Bundestag), where MEPs commended the accession as a milestone in joining the international community and called for the Council of Europe to be safeguarded as a key guardian of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.

- Germany marked 75 years of membership in the Council of Europe with an Anniversary Conference in Berlin. The event brought together political leaders, academics and civil society voices to debate the state of freedom and democracy, and to raise the Council of Europe’s visibility. Seven “Democracy Ambassadors” were appointed as a first step in preparing a ‘Berlin declaration on Democracy’ as a German contribution to the New Pact on Democracy, initiated by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
