The “12 months, 1 question” campaign of the World Forum for Democracy will focus on one topic each month, around which the different elements of the campaign will be arrayed and presented, with the objective of keeping the campaign as interactive and inclusive as possible. The campaign will include online events and activities organised by the Council of Europe and partners, including the Schools of Political Studies, for example interviews, satellite events, “initiatives of the week” highlights, online webinars and Forum Talks with a range of experts, including youth leaders and engaged civil society.

On the occasion of this campaign, which will run throughout 2021, the Congress will organise two events: one, on January, jointly with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, on the theme of deliberative democracy for the climate and a second on local initiatives for the environment, on April.

JANUARY 2021: DELIBERATIVE DEMOCRACY FOR CLIMATE

The round table "Representative democracy and the climate crisis" co-organised by the Congress and the Parliamentary Assembly will bring together members of these bodies and participants to discuss the responsibility of parliamentarians and local and regional elected representatives in the fight against climate change and to highlight good practices of co-operation.

The Forum Talk "Deliberative Democracy for Climate" is an opportunity to present several experiences of citizens' assemblies at the national level and to examine more generally what are their main advantages in the decision-making process and why they can play a crucial role in tackling both the climate crisis and the crisis of confidence in democratic institutions.
