A step further towards an awareness raising “Tool kit” for personal data protection in the health sector.

The technical committee set up to advise the Council of Europe and the INPDP (the Tunisian data protection authority) on a project of awareness raising “Tool kit” for personal data protection in the health sector met on 5 July, in visio conference, to examine the last version to date of that important document, as well as a first selection of “tools”, guides, referentials, leaflets…that will be produced in view of a dissemination campaign.
Professor Slim Ben Salah and Dr Amel Ben Said provided constructive and very useful comments for the improvement of the document which they also found comprehensive and of a good quality. Other representatives of the health sector, who couldn’t take part in the meeting, will also be consulted and, once all suggestions taken into account, an indispensable formatting and presentation work will start, with the aim that the Tool kit best meets the needs of all actors.

The Health Tool Kit set forth the data protection principles that have to be upheld by all professionals and actors of the sector and that are expected by patients. By way of hyperlinks, it provides details about the legal framework as well as examples of good practices and awareness raising tools inspired  from practices of Data Protection Authorities in the world.

This project is carried out in the framework of the joint programme « Support to the Independent Authorities in Tunisia » (Projet d’Appui aux Instances Indépendantes en Tunisie) (PAII-T) », co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
