Atrás 1st Africa region data protection conference

1st Africa region data protection conference

The first ever Africa Data Protection and Privacy Conference was organised in Accra from 24 to 27 June, gathering the African Data Protection Network as well as numerous representatives of African countries which do not yet have data protection laws and/or authorities. The open part of the Conference enabled hundreds of participants to address a broad variety of questions during the series of thematic workshops organised over two half-days (see the programme).

The Conference was presented as “a conference in Africa, by the African authorities, focused on Africa”.

The data protection Unit and the cybercrime division had the privilege to participate in what was a crucial event for the African region, and present the benefits of Convention 108 + and the Budapest Convention.
