On 5 July 2017, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted the Protocol amending the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. The aim of the Protocol of amendment is to modernise and improve the Additional Protocol (ETS No. 167), taking into account the evolution in international co-operation on the transfer of sentenced persons since its entry into force in June 2000.
The Protocol amending the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons was opened for signature on the occasion of the 73rd plenary meeting of the Committee of Experts on the operation of European conventions on co-operation in criminal matters (PC OC) (Strasbourg, 22 November 2017). It was signed by Austria, Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Norway and Switzerland. It has since been signed by Lithuania on 12 January, Italy on 20 February and Turkey on 6 March 2018.
