70 investigators are better prepared to deal with alleged cases of hate crime

On 19-20 July the Council of Europe in co-operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs completed a series of trainings on prohibition of discrimination, hate speech and crimes committed on discriminatory grounds. As a result, 70 investigators are better aware of national and international standards on effective response and investigation of hate crimes.

The trainings were held based on materials developed by the Council of Europe consisting of theoretical and practical components. Materials cover discrimination, hate speech, crimes committed on discriminatory grounds, bias indicators, and standards of investigation.

The event was organised as part of the Council of Europe co-operation project “Fighting Discrimination, Hate Crime and Hate Speech in Georgia”. The project is conducted with the support of the Danish Neighbourhood Programme in Georgia (DANEP) under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Georgia.
