The third online HELP course on violence against women and domestic violence officially launched

On 4 March 2019, the Council of Europe launched its third online HELP course on violence against women and domestic violence in co-operation with the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

20 prosecutors, investigators and staff members of the Human Rights Department of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs will increase their knowledge of the key concepts and the international and European legal framework governing the prevention and protection of women from violence, including the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention.

The course kick-off meeting was opened by the Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, Vahagn Muradyan, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Natia Mezvrishvili and the Head of Human Rights Unit of the General Prosecutor’s Office, Salome Shengelia. Ana Medarska-Lazova from the Council of Europe HELP unit presented the course contents and the technicalities of the HELP online platform to the participants.

The launch of the third HELP course is a continuation of a series of successful co-operation activities between the Council of Europe and Georgian authorities in the area of preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence.

The course was launched and the kick-off meeting was held in the framework of the project ‘’Preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence in Georgia”.
