With the support of the Council of Europe, non-governmental organisations, representatives of civil society and Equality Ambassadors raised awareness about the domestic and international redress mechanisms against discrimination. During the information meeting the representatives of the Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Special Investigation Service and the Public Defender’s Office shared information on how the system of redress works in their respective agencies and answered questions and queries of the representatives of NGOs. The Council of Europe expert conducted the training on the international appeal mechanisms, including the procedure of application to European Court for Human Rights and relevant case law.

The information meeting and the training aimed at increasing knowledge of CSOs on the available redress mechanisms in Georgia and internationally and identifying effective channels for applying those mechanisms.

Representatives of various NGOs working on minorities’ issues as well as newly selected Equality Ambassadors attended the meeting and the training having the possibility to receive practical information and exchange views on better means of communication.

This activity is implemented in the framework of the Project “Promoting the Effective Protection of Equality and Non-Discrimination in Georgia”. The Project is funded through the Council of Europe Action Plan for Georgia 2020-2023.
