A 5-day refresher Training of Trainers (ToT) session was held in the period from 27 to 31 March 2017 in Ohrid. The aim of the session was to renew knowledge and skills of a group of police educators established under the Joint EU/Council of Europe Programme “Capacity Building of the Law Enforcement Agencies for Appropriate Treatment of Detained and Sentenced Persons” (2012-2015).
The ToT focused on increasing understanding on police ethics and respect of human rights in police proceedings, apprehension and use of police force, as well as treatment of persons in police custody and prevention of ill-treatment. The police educators will further disseminate the knowledge and skills to 600 police officers through cascade training sessions that will follow as of September 2017.
The refresher ToT was organised within the scope of the Action ‘’Enhancing Human Rights Policing”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe within the “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”, the subsequent cascade training will be organised under the auspice of the same project.
