On-site assessment mission in Skopje regarding provision of in-service training for police officers

A 3-day assessment mission was carried out by two Council of Europe consultants on 14-16 November 2016 in Skopje with aim to strengthen the provision of the in-service police training through improving the current training programme and curricula. As part of the assessment mission, meetings were held with the members of the working group from the Public Safety Bureau and the Continuous Training Unit of the Sector for Human Resources at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well with a group of 20 national police educators, who have undergone training-of-trainers on human rights policing and disseminated the knowledge and skills to their peers through cascade sessions implemented under the auspices of the previous Joint Programme.

In addition, the consultants visited the Police Training Centre in Idrizovo where they discussed the existing initial and in-service training programme and curricula and the modalities for their improvement.

This activity was organised within the scope of the Action “Enhancing Human Rights Policing”, part of the “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
