Final working group session on drafting the training modules for the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards within the Ministry of Internal Affairs

A 2-day working group meeting was held on 6-7 June 2017 in Skopje, with aim to finalize the drafting of two modules for in-service training of the staff of the police internal control department, namely Module 1 on Investigation of violation of professional standards by police officers and Module 2 on Investigation of violations of articles 2 and 3 of the European Convention of Human Rights. The final working group session will be followed by ToT session and cascade trainings for the internal control staff aimed at improving the capacities of the internal police control mechanism with respect to investigating and combating police misconduct and ill-treatment.

The meeting was facilitated by two international consultants, with participation of members from the Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations and Professional Standards at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The working group meeting was organised within the scope of the Action “Enhancing Human Rights Policing”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe within the “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”.
