Fifth Steering Committee Meeting of the Project “Quality Education for All – North Macedonia” Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive and Democratic Education

The Council of Europe, in cooperation with national partners and with the support of the Federal Republic of Germany, held the Fifth Steering Committee Meeting of the project “Quality Education for All – North Macedonia” at the premises of the Council of Europe Programme Office in Skopje.

The meeting gathered representatives of institutional partners and project beneficiaries to discuss the results achieved so far, exchange views on the ongoing activities, and agree on the final steps of the project’s implementation.

In the opening remarks the representative from the Ministry of Education and Science underlined the importance of a coordinated and sustainable approach to ensuring quality education that is inclusive, democratic, and aligned with European values and standards.

The meeting reviewed the progress made between October 2024 and May 2025, highlighting the successful implementation of two national training modules, mentoring visits to all 25 pilot schools, capacity-building efforts, and preparations for the project’s final school-level workshop.

Discussions focused on strengthening ownership of project results, further developing democratic school culture, and supporting schools in fostering inclusive, respectful, and participatory learning environments. Upcoming activities were also presented, including the summer academies, the establishment of a national network of schools, a roundtable to support the implementation of the European Court of Human Rights judgment in the Elmazova case, and the launch of training content on an online resource platform for teachers.

The meeting once again confirmed the shared commitment of all partners to promoting democratic competences and inclusive values in education, as well as supporting the implementation of the National Education Strategy.

The project “Quality Education for All – North Macedonia” is implemented by the Council of Europe and funded by the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
