Prison authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina have commissioned introduction of information technologies in prisons in light of the Council of Europe recommendations and in an effort to advance European integration processes further.
The Working Group comprising prison and law enforcement professionals is discussing necessary amendments to the prison legislation enabling phased introduction of electronic exchange of prison data with computer specialists on 13-14 December 2018 in Doboj.
The basis of these discussions are the improvements to the current system for exchanging safety and security related data with other law enforcement agencies, administration of imprisonment and related processes, as well as alignment of the custodial practices in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the best European practices.
These activities are organised within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Action Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey - "Enhancing human rights protection for detained and sentenced persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina", implemented by the Council of Europe.
