One-week placement for two lawyers from the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been organised with the office of Ombudsman of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, from 5-9 November 2018.

Similar issues, similar challenges and unique standards to be applied by both human rights institutions are the topics of professional discussions. The exchange of best practices related to their institutional efficiency, relationship with public stakeholders and civil sector, their advocacy policies and Institutions’ activities in protection and remedying of citizen’s human rights is the purpose of the placement, including the strengthening the regional co-operation.

The placement was organised within the framework of the Action implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina: “Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman to Fight Discrimination” – which is a part of the Joint Programme between the European Union and the Council of Europe “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”, as a three-year programme (May 2016 – May 2019), focusing on three themes: ensuring justice, fighting corruption, economic crime and organised crime, as well as combating discrimination and protecting the rights of vulnerable groups.
