Back Project “Strengthening anti-trafficking action in Bosnia and Herzegovina” launched in Sarajevo

Building on the results of the project implemented in 2019-2022 (EU/CoE JP HF20), the Council of Europe continues to provide support to Bosnia and Herzegovina in devising and implementing its anti-trafficking measures. The overall objective is to support the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, drawing on the GRETA’s recommendations in relation to the country (GRETA(2022)06, published on 28 June 2022). The project started on  the 1st January 2023 and will end on 31st December 2024.

First Steering Committee meeting took place on 21 March 2023. It gathered representatives from the 16 institutions, including the State, Federation, Republika Srpska and Brčko District levels.

The Steering Committee agreed on the project’s objectives and the concrete activities that will support: the establishment of the state compensation scheme, accessible for the victims of trafficking; measures to prevent and combat labour trafficking; measures to prevent and support combating child trafficking; the establishment of victims’ participation mechanisms.

The Project “Strengthening anti-trafficking action in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is implemented within the framework of the Action Plan of the Council of Europe as one of the key priority areas for action and is financed through the Council of Europe voluntary contributions by governments of Norway, Germany, Belgium, and Slovenia.
