Federal Police Administration and the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs sign a Protocol on cooperation to combat human trafficking

To increase the outreach work of identification of victims and the investigation of instances of human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation, the Federal Police Administration and the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs signed today, 22 March 2024, a cooperation Protocol. The protocol, developed with the support of the Council of Europe project „Strengthening anti-trafficking action in Bosnia and Herzegovina“ provides a framework for cooperation and is intended to stimulate the practice of joint inspections at workplace level by labour inspectors and law enforcement officers to effectively supervise compliance with labour law.

The Protocol has already been signed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Labour Inspectorate of Canton 10 (Livno) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Labour Inspectorate of West Herzegovina Canton.  Brčko District and the 5 cantons Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Zenica-Doboj Canton, Tuzla Canton, Bosnia-Podrinje Canton and Una-Sana Canton confirmed their intention to sign the Protocol in the course of 2024. The provisions of the Protocol will be included in the operational documents for the fight against human trafficking in Republika Srpska.

The signature and implementation of the Protocol will contribute to the domestic response to one of the key recommendations in the third GRETA's evaluation report.  

The Council of Europe Anti-trafficking Project is implemented in the framework of the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina (2022–2025), funded by voluntary contributions.
