Representatives of education ministries in Bosnia and Herzegovina agreed on concrete steps to bolster the implementation of recommendations for improving inclusive education, thereby further strengthening the quality of education policies and institutional accountability in this sector.
At the strategic meeting on 25-26 March in Mostar, the focus was on enhancing the mechanisms for monitoring and reporting on the implementation of Policy Recommendations with a Roadmap for Improving Inclusive Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The recommendations were developed through the Council of Europe and European Union’s project “Quality Education for All” and adopted by the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina in September 2020.
The strategic meeting marks an additional step forward in the process launched last year, moving from the exchange of experiences to jointly defining operational steps. Authorities agreed on concrete guidelines and priority next steps and reaffirmed their readiness to continue working on improving the practices to monitor the implementation.
Improved systematic monitoring will enable the timely identification of challenges and the development of more informed and effective policies based on relevant data. In this way, institutional accountability is further strengthened, as well as the capacity of the education sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina to respond to the needs of inclusive and quality education for all children.
This activity was implemented under the action “Quality Education for All - Bosnia and Herzegovina,” which is part of the Council of Europe and the European Union’s joint programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye,” and the complementary Council of Europe project funded through voluntary contributions under the Council of Europe’s Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2026-2029.
