Seventy years of the Council of Europe – a website to explore our European story

Today the Council of Europe is launching its 70th anniversary website – a place to explore our history, understand our mission and learn how our work is as important now as it ever was. Initally in English, a French version will follow soon.

Join us every month for a new video to see how the Council of Europe has changed the lives of millions of Europeans, and delve into history with our archive feature on the Council of Europe story.

Get involved with the celebrations through our photo or essay competitions that give you the chance to create your own vision of what Europe means today. And for inspiration, keep an eye out for our anniversary events.

You can take a trip through our Strasbourg headquarters thanks to our virtual online visit, or if you are nearby, you can join us for our Open Doors on May 5th 2019.

And don’t worry if you can’t make it to Strasbourg – there will be plenty of celebrations in each of our member states during the year, so don’t forget to come back regularly to see what’s new. If you are on Twitter the anniversary hashtag is #CoE70.
