Leaflets on the Free Legal Aid Offices available to the wider public

Under the auspices of the awareness raising campaign #TellTheWholeStory, leaflets have been developed and distributed with the aim to inform the wider public on the availability of free legal services to the victims of domestic violence.

The Informative materials (leaflets) contain the contact details of the Free Legal Aid Offices. Wide distribution of 150 000 leaflets will ensure easy access to legal services to the general public, particularly victims of domestic violence. Therefore, the leaflets have been distributed in police stations, social welfare centres, basic and misdemeanour courts, prosecution offices, and in effect in all places where victims have contact with state authorities. In addition, the leaflets are made available in all municipalities of Montenegro, through the post office services.

Even though the victims of domestic violence are entitled to the legal aid regardless of their financial status, they rarely use this mechanism of support. The campaign #TellTheWholeStory was designed to contribute towards greater awareness on the existing mechanisms of support and protection available for the victims of domestic violence.

The action "Improved procedural safeguards in judicial proceedings in Montenegro", within which this campaign has been implemented, is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
