Annual Meeting of the Steering Committee

Online Steering Committee meeting of the Project “Supporting the criminal justice reform and harmonising the application of European standards in Armenia”, was held on 10 December. The Steering Committee is a strategic decision-making body of the Project. It aims to ensure the successful planning, implementation and transparency of the Project and the creation of synergies between the actors involved. It ensures that the activities are planned and performed according to the objectives of the Project.

The meeting was welcomed by Martina Schmidt, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan, and Lilit Daneghian-Bossler, Deputy Head of Co-Operation Programmes Division, Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe.

Key partners of the Project, namely the Court of Cassation, the Ministry of Justice, the Office of the Representative of Armenia before the European Court of Human Right and the Justice Academy underlined the relevance, added value and appreciated the support of the Project. partners highly valued the collaboration with the Project team, acknowledged the tangible results that were achieved aimed at enhancing the guarantees in criminal proceedings in Armenia in accordance with European standards. project partners also emphasized a strong need of continued support of the Council of Europe to ensure the compliance of criminal justice application practices with European human rights standards.

The project is funded within the European Union and Council of Europe Partnership for Good Governance.
