The Council of Europe is celebrating the 70th anniversary of the European Convention of Human Rights -  the key document on the continent which protects democracy, rule of law and human rights for more than 830 million people in Europe.  

The European Convention on Human Rights is at the heart of everything the Council of Europe does – even when it comes to protecting human rights during a pandemic. Therefore, a webinar “Human rights in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is organised by the Council of Europe for students and lectures at the law faculties in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Head of the Council of Europe Office in Sarajevo, Ms Bojana Urumova, welcomed the participants and highlighted that this event is one of the many events organised by the Council of Europe to mark this important anniversary of the Convention. 

The Senior Legal Advisor at the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms Sevima Sali Terzić, gave an overview of identified and potential human rights violations during the COVID-19 pandemic in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr Faris Vehabović, judge of the European Court of Human Rights, presented the positive obligations of states in terms of protection of life and health, and the representative of academia, Mr Harun Išerić, Law faculty of University of Sarajevo, spoke about the right to privacy in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
