On 12 March, the project organised a webinar on Monitoring Death in Prisons in the framework of the capacity building activities for the National Preventive Mechanism against Torture (NPM) and the most relevant civil society organisations. The online workshop was divided in two mutually interrelated sessions:

  1. Standards of the European Committee for Prevention of Torture (CPT), its position and recommendations regarding cases of deaths in places of deprivation of liberty and relevant cases of the European Court of Human Rights
  2. Peer-to-peer exchange and interactive discussion of participants with Prisoner Ombudsman of Northern Ireland.

The event concluded with interactive discussion between peers with many useful lessons learned and recommendations for all participants and follow-up arrangements for further professional co-operation.

The project "Strengthening the Kosovo Institutions in Fight against Torture, Ill-treatment and Other Degrading Treatment" is funded by Norway, and implemented by the Council of Europe through co-operation with local counterparts.
