Back The Albanian Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination develops plans of preventive measures for regional offices

In order to ensure better coverage, accessibility and public outreach, raise awareness on discrimination issues and facilitate the lodging, as well as an effective response to discrimination complaints, the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination established three regional pilot desks in Korça, Shkodra and Gjirokastra, in Albania. Following the development of a plan of preventive measures for these local offices, a two-day training workshop took place on 23-24 November for 16 member of the Commissioner’s office, with a view to:

 

  • Enable a shared understanding of the role of local officer and of the CPD as a national equality body;
  • Support participants in the effective implementation of the CPD local office plan of preventive measures;
  • Develop presentation skills and content for use in local presentations;
  • Develop training skills for use in local training.

 

The training focused on the Commissioner’s office local officers with the purpose of enabling them to implement the plan of preventive measures in the most efficient and sustainable way possible.

The training course was preceded by a one-day workshop on 22 November aiming at presenting the preventive measures plan, the methodology of its preparation, at securing feedback and completing the plan.

The workshop and the training course took place under the European Union and Council of Europe joint project “Enhancing the effectiveness of the Albanian system of Human Rights Protection and Anti-discrimination”.
