Key national and international partners in the PREDIM project (Support to the National Institutions in Preventing Discrimination in Montenegro), including representatives of the Ombudsperson’s Office, the Ministry for Human and Minority Rights, the Ministry of Justice, the Centre for Training in Judiciary and State Prosecution Service, the Ministry of European Affairs, the Council of Europe, and the European Union Delegation, met today in order to discuss their on-going cooperation and review progress made towards combatting discrimination in Montenegro in the context of PREDIM’s completed and upcoming activities.

The greater public outreach and capacity of the Ombudsperson’s Office to address citizens’ complaints emerged as a key achievement under PREDIM, while partners voiced a particularly positive experience with the expertise provided in the context of the project. Looking forward, the Steering Committee agreed to build up on previous work in relation to the rights of vulnerable groups such as LGBT and persons with disabilities as a solid basis for upcoming legislative, policy, and capacity-building activities, including support to the inter-institutional working group responsible for drafting a law on civil partnership.
